180 Deg. T-Stat

Well, OK so this is not the 180deg. t-stat. It's the OME 195deg t-stat. That one thing that's makes the OEM different is the copper stem sticking out from the bottom. It's made just for the 4.7L engine. Dodge doesn't make an 180deg. t-stat for the 4.7L. The stem moves when the t-stat opens when reaching 195deg.s and blocks 50% of the by-pass hole in order to better control the temperature of the coolant. No aftermarket 180deg T-Stat is made to work in this configuration. The 180deg aftermarket one in my truck works OK. I wonder how more even and cooler a 180deg with the stem?

The t-stat housing is mounted down on the front lower right of the 4.7L. Not the easiest location to get at. In the diagrams you can see how the stem will block off part of the engine bypass.
